Computational linguistics is a broad field that studies the theoretical and applied methods of analyzing, processing, and generating natural language both in its written and spoken form using computers.

Some examples of what computational linguistics is concerned with include machine translation, chatbots, speech synthesis and recognition, and spellcheck tools.
